Unsettling.

Post by ruckman101 » Wed Jan 30, 2013 6:52 pm

Five minutes after five pm or so, 3.7 earthquake centered just three or four miles south of us. I felt it. I don't like feeling earthquakes. No damage or nothing, just a quick WTF was that? Freaky.

That big red one. Or at least, if it's two hours later, that big one.

When the ground is jumping, you pretty much have nowhere steady on Earth.
Been through:
1983 Coalinga threw me out of my office chair
1987 Whittier almost squished my roomate's kid
1989 Oakland did they call it?

I still count my blessings. Really don't like feeling them. But would much rather have a mess of little ones rather than a destructive monster.

6.5 here in Eureka in Jan of 2010.

looking down the hallway you could see the walls going left/right/left/right... very surreal. had a 5.9 maybe a month afterward and I think I was less nervous after feeling what a 'big one' was like.

they don't scare me as much as tornado's though. im glad to be somewhere that's out of their path these days.
too many cold nights under the basement staircase as a kid...

Neal - Glad it was just a little one and that everyone was unharmed. To put your mind at ease - our 6.5 only gave us minimal damage: slightly bigger crack in the rear deck concrete patch and a bottle of turtle wax that fell off a shelf in the garage (though it did break and get all over everything)

I know, I'm a baby. It was actually kind of a spasm. I thought someone might be outside rattling and thumping things in jest. No one was.

Loma Prieta. Our driveway in Santa Rosa had visible waves in it during that one.

That was the horrible Nimitz Freeway collapse, yes?
