Reinspection of the Chevy Van

Post by Xelmon » Thu Oct 25, 2012 7:54 pm

It was actually dry enough to do some inspecting and see whats going with the frame.

The frame did not have any nicks on it that I could see.
My cross measurements so far seem to result in acceptable tweakage, namely 1/4" off at most - measured seemingly unaffected areas in parallel and cross.

Now here is the engine torn off of the engine mounts. Figs, $15 part or so for the pair per Tristessas post.

And the other mount...

Here is the ass end of the engine with the tranny, definitely pinching off some line or another. Then I noticed something on the bottom of it.

It sure as hell isn't supposed to have a crack in it, and it sure as hell didn't look like that before.
What cold have flown off in there to do that much damage?

This is an actual split that I noticed on the other side of the van.

... And then the door was difficult to close. I haven't touched it in a while, so the roof is likely starting to set into that position. :(

Overall there is still a lot of if, and I have mixed feelings, mainly the question of what makes sense.
So, I'll waffle a little more. :)

Tristessa just came to the same conclusion... Tells you how much attention I've been paying to the mechanical parts.

Xelmon, here is your inspiration to get the Chevy Van back on the road:

I dig it.
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue, I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace. Where never lark, or even eagle flew. And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod, The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
