hopefully just a mechanical issue that's easily corrected once the proper part is obtained.
If memory serves (and it sometimes does) that's the Columbia River in central Washington, near(ish) The Gorge Amphitheatre.
Any word yet?

And/or he spaced the date.
Originally today was going to be my day with my '76 Reef Blue friend (we were going to split the costs), but she moved and I lost my house and ran out of money so I had to cancel a few months ago.
I think I'll drive by my old house on the way home from work to make sure he's not sitting in the driveway wondering what's up. Hope everything is alright. We definitely have some spotty cell service in these parts so that may be a contributing factor.

Nope. I'll definitely pass it along if I hear anything.
Granted, he had plenty of time between Portland and here. And in my experience he wanders off the beaten path quite a bit, looking for those spots where he can disassemble some part the rest of us don't know exists so he can fix it in peace. And, there's a lot of cell-phoneless space between Portland and here where he could do such a thing. So maybe he's just out in the Clearwater Mountains someplace happily shining the gauge lightbulbs and waxing his wiring or whatever, oblivious of today's date.

Oh good, it's not even a "Chloe bit me when I tried to feed her" situation.
Glad to know!

Now give him a stern talking-to for scaring us all like that. With as much as he drives and as many idiots are out there, plus the fate of the Road Warrior...

That is why we are tearing down his perfectly nicely running engine this morning . . . fishing out a distributor drive spring that launched into the oil feed hole inside the case. A one-in-a-thousand chance happenstance. He is learning how to do a Road Warrior strip-the-engine-down-in-the-car. We started at 11:30PM and are down to the longblock at 2:30AM. We are trying a Hail Mary flip the engine upside down and hope it falls to a magnet reach spot, before we split the case to fish out this stupid little spring.

Ouch. It's the little things. Like a pesky nut that comes off the oil pick-up tube, although that sounds like a walk in the park in comparison. Good luck.

Huh? There's a hole there it
can fit through--it could never miss unless you were trying to. Impossible.
