Wide 5's For Elwood

Post by regalasr » Wed Aug 16, 2006 6:13 pm

First of all, hi everybody. This site looks awesome.

The wide 5's I found for Elwood are just short of 15.5" diameter, rim edge to rim edge. Barb, please measure what you have on your bus now. They have P185 R14's mounted on them, sounded right to me. Did I mess up? I am sure I can take them back .
I got all the baywindow parts

OK Steve, I will measure in the AM but the size of tire sounds like what I have on him now. The whole tire thing still has me at the mercy of the salesmen. But this time IM going be doing alot more looking around before I buy. Again thanks for the acid solution tip. Might even try that on the bumper a end at a time.

I'm confused... 14" tires, but the rim actually measures 15.5"?

Well, if there's a lip at the tire mount point, it would only need to be .75" to equal that 15.5" diameter. So that makes sense. I just had never thought about that.

I think because we are measuring from lip to lip on the rim, we are getting a measurement just shy of 15.5" I think the 14" is the diameter of the "drum" part of the wheel that the tire mounts on. I think we are OK. Pheeeew.

Yes I think so also Steve, getting close to the "Great Parts Exchange" 8)

May even be driving Elwood, but need to do some more driving and bumper stuff to feel good about taking him off the Mtn.
