Getting Wet
Small crease on the nose, and guessing the aftermarket bumpers and grille will be returned to stock eventually, but everything else is in next-to-new original condition. Excited about the prospects of camping with two 'real' beds... seriously it feels like a mansion in there!

Re: Getting Wet
The bigger aftermarket bumpers are nice and especially with those kids in the vanagon. I thought the early ones had the round headlights?

Re: Getting Wet
Just bought it yesterday. Two owner vehicle, new GoWesty heads and 145k on the bottom end. As close to original as I could ever hope to find. Nothing is missing, down to the curtains and ice cube trays. Can't believe it was just over an hour away.

Re: Getting Wet
Very nice find!
The bumpers are nice, id probably keep those. The stupid end caps on the Vanagon bumpers are a pain in the ass to keep nice. The reproductions like to snap their clips off and the bumper is way ugly without them.
The grill isn't bad. It would be nice to see the emblem back in chrome and maybe ditch the bumper mounted driving lights. (with the extra's in the grill, those seem out of place.)

Re: Getting Wet
Awesome!
Welcome to Vanagonland!
You will love it, especially with the kiddos.
If you decide to change the bumpers, I'd be interested.

Re: Getting Wet
We camp with our just turned 3 year old and our 1 1/2 year old too. The kids absolutely love the "bus"...the poptop bedroom is a kid's dream come true! Just be sure to build a bed extension for the upper bunk...we don't want any falls...

Re: Getting Wet
In telling myself it will get easier. Camping this year with one <1yr and the other <2yrs was, well, a handful. Still made great memories though!
Looks like the fogs are actually factory (dealer add?). They match the ones shown in the accessory insert in the owners manual and there are papers for them too. Also has (factory/dealer?) cruise control with paperwork. I know little about the Vanagons... lots to learn.

Re: Getting Wet
A couple from the listing I bought it off. It's raining here and the aforementioned kids have me pretty well occupied!
Floor is also redone, forgot to mention that. I prefer a sweepable surface anyway... like the '70.

I like them. Piercing driving lights in the grill, wide low throw fog lights down at the bumper.airkooledchris wrote:maybe ditch the bumper mounted driving lights. (with the extra's in the grill, those seem out of place.)

Re: Getting Wet
Oh, it will. Our kids were similar ages last summer and it was much tougher. This past summer was a HUGE improvement. Our oldest loved to roast marshmallows, and build the fire and help pack the 'bus' and.....well U get the idea. Best thing I ever did was buy our Westy. BTW, we have the same wood floor that u have, makes keeping it clean a breeze!sped372 wrote:In telling myself it will get easier.
