Do you use ramps? Silly question

If you use ramps to work on your bus instead of a jack, do you drive up them or back up them:)
Just want to know if people have a preference and maybe why...

im a pretty big dude, so sliding under the bus isn't that simple if im near the motor. if I have a lot of under-motor area stuff to do, I back up onto my ramps.

I only jack if'n I gotta. Otherwise, it's the ground most of the time.

I choose not to drive onto ramps all together. I prefer to jack the vehicle up and place the ramps under the wheels. Years ago with an old chevy I had a ramp kick out from me while driving up and do some damage.

Kick out hmmm didn't think of that but that would not be safe for sure.
I was thinking that depending on what you are doing whether you want the ramp in front or behind the wheel.

I have never used them. You would back up the ramps if working on the rear of the car, and drive up the ramps if working on the front of the car. A bus does allow you to place ramps in front of the rear wheels or behind the front wheels. A jack + jack stands allows you to rotate wheels and even take them off.

I used ramps in the past on the Civic. Flat-space and a very rough drive-way are needed, otherwise I would safely assume that it shoots out.

These days I'm not sure anymore... 3 ton + jacks sounds like a much safer bet.

not such a silly question..ditto on the ramps shooting out...damn near broke a helpers shin...but yes back on for the rear, pull on for the front if you must use them. I prefer a floor jack and heavy duty jack stands.

and kids don't do this either. the other day a sticky solenoid necessitated a remote starter and after starting the bus I slid back under to take off the remote, laying my torso directly in line with the rear wheel of an unchocked running bus. I broke into a sweat thinking of the potential Darwin heading my way. be careful.

Just bought four chocks for my upcoming engine swap work. Was a little nervous jacking the back up with my "improvised" chalks couple of days ago.

Safety first.
