78' type II bus (having issues with reverse)
howdy, anyone have ideas about why my bus "bad danger" 80% of the time refuses to go into reverse? this problem started a week ago and have had to be quite strategic about my parking! everything else is shifting fairly smooth. could it be the clutch cable is not taught enough? i'm new, but willing, and for those who helped on the tail light rewiring, thank ya, i got em' lit! cheers, kh

Shifter in nuetral - push DOWN - and shift. Sometimes people dunno that. Crawl underneath while a second set of arms shifts for you to check for anything weird. Odd it's reverse only.

Shift coupler? The "square cage" one back by the transaxle.

Noisy grind? Clutch not releasing.
Can't find it?
Press down in neutral, move directly left towards driver's door while keeping it down, then smartly pull rearward in this leftward slot. Sometimes you butt up against a gear tooth, then you lightly lift the clutch pedal up a sec to move the gear a bit, then you feel it engage.
Still can't find it, go look for slop in the gear shift bushings/coupler.
Stop plate adjustment is last.
