1971 SB fuel hose size.

Post by Duke G » Thu Feb 03, 2011 12:18 am

I need to replace the fuel lines running into my my fuel pump as I've sprung a leak from one of the hoses so I thought I would replace them all. Can anybody tell me what size line it is? I think it's 7mm but I'm not certain.

Thanks!

7mm it is. I suggest that you be very discerning with your purchase. I have seen over the years many people buy what was claimed to be reinforced FI hose, and the seller was either uninformed or unethical. The cloth braided cover is not reinforcement. Only the nylon thread in the middle of the cross-section is reinforcement. Some comes with just a couple of skinny threads, other are the real good dense reinforcement. With today's gasoline getting more and more chemically active with detergents and oxygenation and alcohol blends, I do not buy hose from our vendors unless it is certifiably modern metric FI hose like Choline with the red lettering. I go to the local Mercedes or BMW dealer usually, pay up the nose and sleep tight.

p.s. keep the fuel damper even if it is a confusing tangle of nonsense up there at the front of the floor pan

Thanks Colin, much appreciated.

You'll be happy to know that Erik is doing well on his engine for Papa Smurf. Still not finished as he's been a bit busy finding a new job but slow and steady wins the race.

Preparing to pay through nose for good Zzzz's.

Cheers,
