1970 Fastback -one more project

Post by Hobug » Mon Jan 28, 2013 5:13 pm

I made a trade today and brought home a 70 Fastback. It is automatic and still fuel injected. It spent 25+ years in a barn and is very original; even the spark plug wires are original. It is Savannah Beige and while there is some patina (surface rust  ) the paint should buff out pretty well. It runs, drives, and stops, but is not road worthy yet. I need to clean the fuel system from the tank to the injectors and go thru the brakes.

72 Bug for trade loaded and leaving.

Made it to the trade.

It looks like Pete is killing my son, but he didn't. (really)

If you travel with Pete, you can't pass a Bojangles.

The only real body damage.

Door panels are in good shape and I got some even nicer ones in the trade.

Nice pretty paint under the hood.

No junk in the trunk. :D

Only missing a couple of pieces from the engine.

Man, look at that. We need a visit. D-Jet!
My Squareback is bonked on that corner too. I think people pulling out of parallel parking spots misjudge the fact that these cars keep swelling bigger under the belt line, or sumpin.
You keeping this car beautifully stock?
Let's review what a stock Type 3 goes for these days in nice stock condition:

1973 VW Squareback Pricing

MSRP Low Average High
$2,995 $4,350 $8,100 $12,800

**/**/10
............. $3,900 $7,275 $11,300

09/20/11:
............. $4,800 $8,950 $14,400

01/17/12:
............. $4,800 $9,200 $15,100

Note that they are appreciating if they are in nice condition, hobug.

Stock is the plan; stock and original. I may get it painted due to the rear damage. If I can find a Savannah Beige replacement fender I may stay with the original paint.

I must finish my sister-in-law's Ghia before I can really jump on this Fasty.
