I'm planning to go see it this Friday or Saturday. I asked some questions and they were a little vague about rust, so I'm not getting my hopes up until I get a good look at the bottom and the front wheel wells (which I hear are critical on these super beetles). By the way, it has cup holders (I'm not sure if they're heated):dtrumbo wrote:So Covelo, didja buy it? Didja, didja didja?
I have those exact same cup holders in my '79. I like 'em! BTW, in the summer, they're heated, and in the winter, they're cooled.covelo wrote:By the way, it has cup holders (I'm not sure if they're heated)
I'll take 'em off your hands if you like.Bleyseng wrote:I will be installing something else and giving those away.
I suppose if you've dropped 4k+ on a Raby Special you might want gauges. I've read where he gets really pissed when folks run around with one of his engines and don't monitor it with gauges.chitwnvw wrote:I'll take a cup holder over gauges any day.
I was thinking of going Raby next build and let him take care of all the balancing, tolerances, etc. But if it is just going to be something I worry about and obsess over, I might have to rethink. I had become a fan of checking the oil level, looking in the valve covers now and again, and keeping my ears open to what the engine tells me.dtrumbo wrote:Not if you've dropped 4k+ on a Raby Special. Think about your bike and the first time you put a speedo on it...then remember the first time you didn't give a crap how far you were going or how fast you did it.chitwnvw wrote: I was thinking of going Raby next build and let him take care of all the balancing, tolerances, etc. But if it is just going to be something I worry about and obsess over, I might have to rethink. Which is why I am riding a 'vintage' Trek. No worries.Manfred wrote: Think about your bike and the first time you put a speedo on it...then remember the first time you didn't give a crap how far you were going or how fast you did it.
No. But you did it yourself also and know how much it costs. Raby doesn't really seem like a whole lot more, especially if you do your own assembly.hambone wrote:Can you afford Raby anyway?
