For some reason in my head, I thought while a VW is up on jack stands in the rear, tires off the ground, emergency brake off, in 1st gear, that the tires should only go forward? No engine running obviously.
Does gearing and tire spin only come into play when the engine is running or something?
I thought I would have a hard time spinning the wheel by hand if in gear and all. Driver side rear spins forward, other tire spins opposite direction, and whether I am in neutral or in gear, is easy to spin by hand.
I could not find a web site that explained these basics. Just threw me off.
Please clarify my nimble brain.
