Cheryle came out of the store to find the floor of Gretchen Ghia on the driver's side under the rear seat on the ground today. Guess it's time to replace those floors.

I hope she took pictures. So:
a) find a 40 mph speed limit sign and cut to size.
b) pan-off restoration!

Finally got the camera to task. Here's the chunk that dropped, with Doug Fir cone for scale.
And here's the view from inside. This is under the back seat behind the driver seat.
And from under the car.
Systemic.

I mis-read. Pan off restoration it is. A patch would be raining on Cheryle's parade. It certainly is fantastic to have a partner equally as enthusiastic about such a project. In the past, I got the "Why don't you just get a real car" more than once.

Dealing with rust is always better. That stuff never sleeps. Beyond that, "better" at this point would be no other rust. We know that's not happening. So it becomes qualitative. Then "better" becomes the hope for minimum, not as bad as expected, salvageable, doable.
