79 Super Beetle Tires

Post by Jimmy Jet » Mon Sep 16, 2013 10:25 pm

I am amazed at how difficult it is to find (and afford) the original 165/80 R 15 tires for the Super Beetle ($1,000 for Michelins)

Are there alternative sizes for the stock rims? Alternative brands that run well on the Beetle? We will be pampering this Beetle so probably no rain driving and only 60 mph on the highway... I am open for suggestions.

Tire Rack have a set of 4 x 165/80x15 tires for $272 currently.

No idea how good they are, naturally :D

Tires-Easy.com have Federal tires at $47.60 apiece plus S&H. Never used the tires, but did buy the Hankooks for my bus through Tires-Easy and was very satisfied with the service.
