Wonder where Boeing got such a brilliant idea?

Post by Bleyseng » Mon Mar 14, 2011 2:03 am

You won't find this kind of corporate genius on display just anywhere.

Officials at Boeing, formerly of Seattle, reportedly have been struck with the lightning-bolt notion that assembling jetliners from parts shoddily assembled by non-aerospace workers around the world, then shipped to Washington state, isn't all that cost effective, after all.

So the company's brain trust is working on a cutting-edge new plan: Future jets could be built by experienced workers at a U.S. "supersite," with a cluster of parts suppliers located close to the final-assembly location.

It's ingenious, but it sure seems like we've seen that approach on display somewhere before.

Oh, yeah: It was at the 1909 William E. Boeing Red Barn display down at the Museum of Flight.

you guys ought to give Obama credit where credit is due. You know he has been having conferences with industry leaders for several weeks now, right? What, pray tell, do you think he was after them for? Bringing jobs back to the USA. Expect to hear similar announcements from other big corporations.

It helps that the new CEO is a Boeing man instead of a MD man who sought to "Globalize" Boeing's aircraft production which was a huge failure! I know two guys on the 787 line and the stories they tell is incredible of the shoddy parts or unobtainium parts they were trying to assemble with. Hopefully this ends Boeings attempts to break the unions here too as the old CEO blamed the unions for the 787 delays, hah what a crock of shit.

All my business classes said the global economy was a great thing and to embrace it!
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue, I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace. Where never lark, or even eagle flew. And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod, The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
