Run, run! It's raining hypocrites!
Here we go again.

Another protector of virtue and all around moral authority bites the dust. He says he threw the meth out. Do you believe him? Chances are pretty good he was smoking more than meth. When will people figure out that when someone is so vehemently opposed to homosexuals, it means they are one. They focus so much energy on their hatred and the suppression of who they really are that their sexuality works its way out in some perverted and sick way. This guy just needs to meet some nice guy and settle down. No wait isn't that on its way to becoming unconstitutional? Well the conservative christian thing to do is simple: Burn the sinner!

But Haggard said he never had sex with Jones. And as for the drugs, "I was tempted, but I never used it," the 50-year-old Haggard told reporters from his vehicle while leaving his home with his wife and three of his five children.
What? "I bought speed but didn't use it. No way, never ever. Don't be ridiculous." Say what?

Right on.LiveonJG wrote: When will people figure out that when someone is so vehemently opposed to (favorite judgmental rant here), it means they are one.

Years ago we had a prosecutor that made his reputation going after the Mom & Pop Video Stores for renting porno (pre-internet days). Then he went after the johns that were popped for solicitation. He wasn't happy with just the prosecution he coerced the local rag into running a column listing everyone that got busted so their lives could be ruined. Then he got nailed himself in a hotel room with a lady of the night. Turned out he had a nasty little habit and was using public money to fund it. He wound up ruined himself and ended it one night. I almost felt sorry for him.

I DO feel sorry for him. And these other hypocrites.RussellK wrote:

We are, en masse, too damn afraid to own our weaknesses, and the culture burnishes this judgmental hate with the likes of Nancy Grace et.al.
How many people would like to reach out and heal but are terrified?

His "apology" said it all. He made reference to his "vile and wicked" (or some similar terms) behavior. Even in his most "honest" moment, he feels that he must belittle himself for feelings he can't control.

Mark Morford
Good slightly skewed column about this matter.
I love Mark's column, he's always sharp and funny, plus has a thing for juicy adjectives.

=D> =D> =D>Yes, Pastor Ted, disgraced former leader of 30 million blithely homophobic evangelical Christians, yet another of those flamboyant semi-insane Liberace-with-a-Bible megachurch preachers, a man who had weekly conference calls with George W. Bush, a man who lobbied Congress on behalf of homophobic Supreme Court nominees, Ted has had so much gay sex with a male prostitute it makes Mark Foley look like child's play (so to speak). Fair enough?
