Can't wait to see the Fed's reaction if that one passes...

It will be same reaction that California has had... bust a co-op here and another one there, just often enough to scare folks but really doing nothing to deter it.
They have their hands full with California. Add another state to that and they'll be even more limp-d**ked.
Nevada would be the first state to completely decriminalize and it would (and already has) shed light on many legal and constitutional issues that the Feds have so far been able to skirt using legal loopholes, shady tactics, bullying and misinformation campaigns.
Will be interesting. The citizenry has a chance to show the feds that they aren't as gullible as they think.

And that is fine by me, I would rather see it generate revenue for the greater good then see money wasted on trying to bust people for having it or growing it......wouldn't it be cool to see a pot version of NAPA valley?chitwnvw wrote:Of course, as soon as it's legit, there'll be taxes and regulation to follow.

This already happens in the "Emerald Triangle." I was invited to the CA Cannabis Cup last year, but I couldn't make it.spiffy wrote:"hmm, yes yes yes this is the growers reserve of 2003 that you are tasting today, note the subtle hues of honey and early morning dew" "Please note how dense the buds are and the sweet aroma that the soil of stinkfoot valley creates in these plants"

Wow
I read through the always confusing verbage use. Looks like you can legally buy and have on you an ounce if you are over 21. It also looks like you can give your buddy an ounce but obviously can't sell it to them without a license.
What I couldn't find though is what a whole saler or retailer could buy and sell between each other. I would expect as a wholesale dealer you could sell pounds of it to a retailer who then had to sell no more than an ounce to an individual person.
Another interesting part what who could get a license. It says basically that bars, liquor stores, night clubs, dance halls (strip clubs ) or "licensed gaming facilities" can NOT be given a MJ license. I guess it doesn't matter to me, but I would think the casino's would want to get in on it. maybe they will if it passes.
Either way this initiative is well above and beyond what I could have imagined would be tried to be initially passed. Wow. You are't joking when you say it would be a handful for the feds, I think they'd freak if this passed which I hope it does. If this goes through its definately the precursor to a number of other states that will follow suit.
Good job Nevada.
Edit: Just saw this part of it...
Sec. 26. 1. A person shall not advertise the sale of marijuana through television, radio, newspapers, magazines, billboards, the Internet or any other written or oral commercial media.
ok, so lets say somebody opens up a MJ store, I'm sure word of mouth would be good enough but you'd think they'd be able to have a website at a minimum? I guess you can't be too picky at first.
The other one was the $45/oz tax put on the whole sale of MJ. If they have to pay 45/oz + grow costs then what would the retailer end up selling it for? I guess my question is what does an oz go for right now in Nv?

My 78 year-old dad is waiting for this one to play out. Macular degeneration apparently responds to pot not unlike glaucoma.

I think they'd benefit from the increased tourism, at the very least.Adventurewagen wrote: Another interesting part what who could get a license. They already are. The dispatched John Walters, Drug Czar, to Nevada to spread his usual lies and fear mongering. His main talking point was that the proposal was bunk because it was funded by private, wealthy people who "don't even live in Nevada."Adventurewagen wrote:it would be a handful for the feds, I think they'd freak if this passed which I hope it does. Meanwhile, he's travelling from Washington D.C. (which, last time I checked, is also outside of Nevada) on the taxpayer's dime to tell the state of Nevada that it can't pass legislation that the federal government doesn't okay first.

I'm not sure about this, but I bet you'll find that it's addressed somewhere on the discussion boards at the CRCM website: http://www.regulatemarijuana.org/forum/
Sidenote: Notice while you're on those forums how well-spoken, intelligent, educated, reasonable and polite these supposedly "lazy, slacker, unmotivated stoners" are. Taking on the state and federal governments... how's THAT for motivated, huh?
I don't know the real answer, but my guess is that the cost would stay the same or even be a little more expensive than a person would pay in other parts of the country. After all, you would be paying for the privelege of smoking cannabis relatively risk-free.Adventurewagen wrote:The other one was the $45/oz tax put on the whole sale of MJ. Yes, I'd happily pay the tax, as well. Even a stiff tax. Sure beats risking losing my wife, kid, home, career and freedom the way I do now.spiffy wrote:And that is fine by me, I would rather see it generate revenue for the greater good then see money wasted on trying to bust people for having it or growing it......wouldn't it be cool to see a pot version of NAPA valley?chitwnvw wrote:Of course, as soon as it's legit, there'll be taxes and regulation to follow.
And yes, the pot version of Napa Valley (or the Willamette Valley, which is rivaling Napa these days, by the way) would be a beautiful thing.
If your average person was able to see this magnificent plant growing under the Sun, I think they'd fall in love with it. It's a gift from Mother Nature.

So after looking through their forum the only thing I can't find on the site is what happens if you grow your own personal crop? It seems like they've done a great job to address both sides of the problem with commercial cutlivation, production, distribution, sales and the personal use but I would have thought there would be provisions for personal growing thrown in somewhere?
If you can have an ounce then does it make a difference if its attached to the plant still? And if it is ok, then is the actual cutlivation of the plant illegal. I'm guess the answer is just that if you grow you are expected to have a license regardless of how much you grow even if it were a couple plants.
Any ideas?

Someone does actually address that on the forum ("dman"?) but I don't remember where and don't remember precisely what was said, but in short, this legislation does NOT address cultivation. One step at a time.Adventurewagen wrote:So after looking through their forum the only thing I can't find on the site is what happens if you grow your own personal crop? The real benefit of this legislation passing would be that it would make national news and get people talking and hopefully speaking out about their own mj use and/or opinions and, perhaps more importantly, it would open the floodgates for states to start legally addressing the DEA's right to enforce federal drug laws against folks who are not violating local laws.
