Walmart evil! City of Chicago sold out to the devil.
Did you read the book that investigated the culture of WalMart?
I forget the name of it.
Still trying to hit snippets of The Sorrows of Empire you gave me.
Sorry about the latest evidence of the flat-lining of American Community.

I think Chicago is run by a team of Satans, talk about crooked.
Walmart sure is getting some bad press lately. It's frightening that they're driving our economy. Well, China has become our hands and muscle. I wonder how many "patriots" are waving foreign made US flags?
A true patriot would put up more of a stink about our dwindling enconomy and mfg. base and less about...all the rest of that spoon fed crap. But the weird thing is, every last one of them is a good person deep inside, but not handling things with a loving hand. I'm not sure how to proceed with these odd variables and not be judgemental. Besides, who the hell am I to judge anybody?

chitwnvw~ thanks for the latest news. I heard that the ordinance passed, but not about the veto. That is a disappointing outcome.
I've had a couple of confusing experiences lately in newly developed areas. Big box, medium box, they all look the same and are all inhabited by the same clone stores. I can't tell which town I'm in anymore, and the freeways are lined with high walls so there is little scenery to gain one's bearings. The paving of LA is nearly complete! Help me!

Then there's the level of help you get these days. These stores pay next to nothing so they have a transient workforce. They might know plumbing is in isle 6, but that's about it. I've given up trying to get help, it always a blank stare or just plain bad advice, given by a blowhard who seems to know what he's talking about.
I really think that's why most of the people I know don't work on their cars or their homes, they can't go to their local stores and buy something and get decent advice on how to install it. Here's a case where the internet has been a boon, because the knowledge is out there, the knowledge on how to sand hardwood floors or whatever.
This is the direction we are heading in. What that means, I don't know

If/when the economy ever crashes again the self-sufficient will thrive.
