Stay a while and say hi! You wouldn't have registered if you weren't interested in a new site. So lets hear from ya.

It's feeling pretty new to me here. Can you hear the crickets?
I will try to stop by once-a-day as I continue the cross-country trek.
This is a good time to see what people might like of yet-another-forum.
I would love to put together a group of trouble shooting flow-charts for the typical no-starts/overheats/poor mpg/etc that are clear and easy to use. Ideas?

Thanks Colin. Can we get a baseline as to what people are getting for their mpg now?

I'll see what I get this week and report back.

I can only speak authoritatively on what I am getting right now with a stock '73 dual carb bus. I am averaging 18 mpg mostly 70 mph highway driving with light tan plugs. State roads mellower driving I can sometimes hit 20 mpg.

Most earlier single carb buses get a good 23 mpg when running well, and the late FI buses usually get 17-20 mpg.

Since we all drive differently, a note of how you drive and what your plugs last looked like might help.

good job on the site guys.

Look forward to further reports from the front lines of Skepticdom.

Flow charts are a good thing, indeed.

I just came back from HCBF in my 78 Westy, I averaged 19 to 20 mpg doing 70 mph.

I am actually seeing the familiar faces one visit at a time, almost 100 people over the past 3 years of itinerant travels. If you spend 12 hours straight working on someone's pride and joy, you feel a kinship that makes conversations social and technical. That doesn't go over too good in some parts of the world 8-[

Onwards I say : )

It clearly is the current center of the VW Galaxy. It deserves every accolade that comes its way.
Sometimes galaxies collide. It is beautiful to watch from afar but it is a little hot at the scene.

With the bar set so high, this forum needs to find it's own excellence. I think it can be done. We are at the beginning and I hope that you founding participants can look back and remember the wobbly first days with amusement.

Aha! there it is... my teeny, tiny Mac made avatar. PCs have the advantage with that particular task, or else I have something new to learn.

Hi Elwood. \:D/
