splash pan protects against splash kick. protects the m/c from prematurely rusting, protects the reservoir from the elements, protects the electrical connections on the m/c from moisture. it does more than protect the pedal cluster, and if you don't have one you should be self-slamming a hinged door against your head, repeat and beg for mercy.

But it doesn't cover the MC, reservoir or it's electrical connections. I agree that is is needed. But it doesn't cover those things. I have one on each Bus. Covers the pedal cluster, holes for wiring harness/cables/pedals & shifter. Doesn't come near any of the braking components.
