Does anyone know I can import to the States a previously German-plated 1993 California aka Westie?
I'm living in Spain now own one and am thinking of taking it to the states permanently and possibly selling it. I'm not sure I can do this since this model was never sold in the US. Only the EuroVan was sold.

All the stuff you want to know...

Short answer is yes= 23 yrs old gets you out of EPA stuff, 25 yrs gets you out of DOT requirements, which should cover you for the fact that it was not sold here. But, you want to make sure you have all of your documentation in place per the requirements, etc.

I will say that it matters which state you import to and whether the engine itself was used in the States. The latter especially for CA.

Importing to Washington and it's the 2.4D so it definitely was not used in the US as the Eurovans were all petrol. I thought I read that vans older than 25 years (I don't remember the exact age) could be imported if safety standards were sufficient.
