Paint is quick and easy. The hard part is the prep, that takes months. $$ in POR15, primer, sandpaper...
BTW I had good luck with PPG Omni paint, cheap and durable stuff.
Most of my sanding work is with a square palm sander. You can use the grinder with flap disks, but you have to be extremely delicate.

I use a motel6 ice bucket half-filled with water + three drops of dishwashing liquid and my hand.hambone wrote:Paint is quick and easy. The hard part is the prep, that takes months. $$ in POR15, primer, sandpaper...

I wash the bucket out thoroughly and repeat at each increase in grit.

Please explain the dishwashing liquid, interesting I'd say.Amskeptic wrote:

Yes that is my plan. Many hours sanding. That I can do as I have taught woodworking for many years and I understand the effects of a proper sanding. I will also check out the PPG Omni.hambone wrote:Paint is quick and easy. The hard part is the prep, that takes months. $$ in POR15, primer, sandpaper...

Helps to prevent the sandpaper from loading up, and it helps you see the surface develop as there is no water tension.Mulcheese wrote: Please explain the dishwashing liquid, interesting I'd say.

BTW I was talking of pre-paint sanding with a palm sander.

Bodywork under primer. Everything else I do by hand. And how!
