I was waiting till I actually had it. Actually you have it right now. Anyway.

I got a very cool 411 Squareback! For a very good price. All due to some help from Bottomend.

I'm gonna be filling this section of the forum myself apparently.

It's got lots of pep even with the vacuum leaks, Facet fuel pump, Weber Progressive carb and 009 dizzy. Needs brakes and front wheel bearings though.

PICS!!!

411's are hideous. But that is what makes them great! I've only seen one type 4 in the really real world, a 412.

Hideous? Not even! I love the way it looks. Very smooth retro "euro" design. I actually bought it for my wife but It's my baby.

It's mighty lonely in the 411 world. Shoptalk seems to have the best 411/412 section but even that's pretty dead.

We'll fix that mighty quick! I think once we start letting all these "bus snobs" know how great these little cars are we'll have to form a line. I've been driving this car for the last couple of days and I am completely smitten to the core. Granted, it's only the second VW I've ever driven ( the bus and now the T4) but man, what a ride!

It's cool looking, easy to park, goes quick, feels "right", extremely spacious, quite inside, and did I mention that it looks cool!?

I don't really know what a type 4 is. How is it different from a type 3 squareback? They look similar, but not quite the same.

This might explain a squareback I saw recently that didn't look quite right.

Nice car, Sluggo and bottomend. I like the color. If it's anything like my mom's old squareback, it will be lots of fun to drive.

Whose red bus is that in the third photo?

Lots of differences.

Bigger, longer, faster. Strut front suspension and coil spring rear suspension instead of torsion bars. The Type 3 had a pancake version of the Beetle engine, while the Type 4 had the more robust engine design that is the basis for the late Bay motor and the Porsche 914.

That's mine. It's actually Chevy Orange & Black. Work in progress.

You might enjoy this article, and maybe some of the California folk remember Julie and/or her beautiful 412 that was written up in VW Trends.
