Hopefully you won't run into any of this. Image

This photo was taken two weeks ago just past squaw lakes on abbot road. It was on the east side of the washout- not the hambone side. Snow must have been deep there this past winter. Cold spring hasn't helped melt it either. Might be gone by now.

Not making the Hambone camp. Family obligations despite my recently opened schedule.

Damn It! You never go to any of the real camp outs.

Checked out the North Fork reservoir yesterday and there was lots of good fishing. I'll be there Wednesday (the day before Hambone Springs) and hopefully I'll show up with a load of fresh Trout! Caught a 10 inch rainbow yesterday and the are stocking it on Wednesday so I'll be there waiting for those 3500 fish!

Randy there's good fishing all along the N. Fork of the Clackamas. I'll fill you in on some spots that I haven't fished in years but if caught at the right time it's hard not to catch them. I'm pretty sure I'll be there next weekend. I'll be up Thursday afternoon/evening sometime but have to leave Saturday evening. I'm all out of three day weekends for the year.
Chorizo, it's what's for breakfast.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to doing a lot of fishing since it's only an hour away. I only caught one fish but that was because my reel sucked. Got a new one today and just did a 50' cast in the driveway. I only caught one fish but I know if I could have cast farther out there I would have gotten more. People all around me were exceeding the limit. The guy next to me caught more than 25 by the time I had left and he told me his not so secret secret. Mini marshmallow on the eye of the hook, half a worm on the hook and douse it in fish stink. Don't use a whole worm or it might look too big to eat attached to a marshmallow. Sounds weird but I watched him catch that many in 3 hours. Hope everyone at camp likes Trout!

Back on topic:
So just Hammie, Westy78 & I until Friday? Can't wait!

No snow! Just got back from S. Fork, unbelieveably gorgeous out there. And found another trail! A good one too. Woke up with the sun rising behind Mt. Hood, but then nature screamed and I missed the show.
A couple days to mellow then I'm back out again. My 1st summer vacation since HS.
Time for a shower and to go relax. Looking forward to some fish! No goldfish though.

Good to hear! I am so looking forward to this. :geek:

No goldfish. I promise. Nothing smaller than 10 inches. I'm going again tomorrow with the family. Just wanna get a better feel for things before the serious fishing starts on Wednesday. I'll (we'll) be at the Lab for a little while afterwards. Maybe I'll be able to share some Trout.

Bob, can you bring that fishing bag to the Lab tomorrow? I'll bring something for you. :flower:

I will see you (whoever "you" turn out to be) out there!
Plan B camp is at High Rock Sprs. I'll be totin' the crosscut if I run into any down trees...but ya never know what a new season brings.
Man I have been sneezing continuously since I got back yesterday. This springtime pollen will not do, especially in July! UGH but how wonderful that Hambone awaits out there, multiple levels of clarity.
Also, don't forget your instruments; even if you're not musical, bring something. A kazoo, or even a cat-in-a-sack.
Abbot Road, but only with one lonely "T", the poor gentleman.

Think there's enough room for another bus? Caspian and I are up for this one.
Not being the experienced campers you guys are, any suggestions for supplies?
Anyone meeting up for a caravan or just find our way there on our own?

Sounds/looks like fun.

So it all started when I wanted to get better gas mileage....

Hey, that would be great. Where should we meet? What kind of beer? (the important questions first).

The beer thing was a joke...

I sent you a pm with a phone number. We could meet where I work, (you know where that is as I have seen you there) or plan on an "on the road meet up". (ie I will be leaving work around 5 and heading directly for the hills, (likely up Halsey to 82nd and then 205 S). If you left home around the time I left work we would be on the road at the same time and could meet up at the Estacada ranger station or sumpin (just before you pull into Estacada). Cell phones are great for this kind of thing as we can communicate on the fly...

Get yer stuff before headin' out.

We're gonna go for the ranger station. We will be loaded and ready to head for the hills.

Thanks
