Potawatomi / Sturgeon Bay WI

Post by sped372 » Tue Sep 21, 2010 6:03 am

Slightly longer than a four hour drive from our house to the park. Weather was nice, but cool - just a bit of rain during the drive there and also on the way back. We switched sites to get a nicer one that had a bit more privacy and a bit of a water view.

Took a hike, which was actually less than captivating. Mostly just tromping through the trees. We found the start of the Ice-Age trail which passes directly in front of our house.

Climbed the lookout tower and took in Sturgeon Bay (off Green Bay).

Cooked a basic dinner while listening to the Packers cream the Bills.

And decided to check out Lambeau and the Hall of Fame on the way home.

All in all a pretty basic trip. Nothing fancy but good clean relaxing fun.

As you can tell from the photos... still way too early for fall colors. Pretty much everything is green.

Not sure if you're familiar with the Door County area but I'd highly recommend Peninsula State Park. Bring your bikes.

did the crazy crazy volume of skeeters finally chill out in Wisco?

when I was there in early August I couldn't hardly stand to be outside... I grew up with them, but I don't think it was ever THAT bad.

Diamond Lake, right here in generally skeeter-free Oregon, was horrible this year. I guess the trout love them, but I could live without em'
