4th Annual Badger Creek Trip - Oregon in March!

Post by deschutestrout » Sun Feb 14, 2010 4:33 pm

Okay...Hambone has been hounding...er...encouraging me to get on the task of setting a date for this annual gathering.

March 26-28 .... tis during Oregon's spring break (at least I think for all public schools) how does this work for others?

Badger Creek area is about 2 1/2 hours east of Portland ... about 1 1/4 hours south of The Dalles...we're talkin' North-Central Oregon. Neat area, big trees, should be snow free by then (already pretty much snow free...crappy snow winter we're having). Not quite sure what our spot will be this year, Hammy suggested we try the other side (north) of the canyon. I'll try to make an exploratory trip up there soon and find a suitable spot ... otherwise where we have been the last couple of years has served us well ... but, I too am ready for a change of scenery.

At least one of my kids (likely both) will be joining me on this one...

Any takers?

I'll be there! Wild cows couldn't keep me away.
Bonney Crossing would be nice too if it's one of those sunny weekends. Nice to have the trail right there. Or that plateau between Badger and Little Badger creeks like you were thinkin. Heck at this point I'll camp at McDonalds.
Hey, what about Little Badger? We've never camped there...wonder if the access road will be open. Maybe worth a looksee? I'll leave it up to you.

Supposed to be a damn nice weekend coming up...near 60 in PDX. Snow level 4000' last weekend in the Clackamas WOW.

You talkin the Little Badger Campground? I'll have to look at my map and see how far the FS road follows the creek...maybe there are several suitable sites.

Sure, convolute things.

Let's see. As far as I know, I'm committed to a Twin Falls Idaho venture about that time, back to work Monday the 21rst. Sunday the 20th being dedicated to the drive from Twin Falls back to PDX. Camping may be out, but ya never know. Depends on Bertha. Would love to, but hey, could make the Lab and would certainly enjoy touching bases wit ya.

Still have issues with back axle bearings, spacers and grinding that are giving me fits. Engine's fine.

It'd be great to have a beer with you while you're here!
The best navigators aren't sure where they're going until they get there. And then they're still not sure.
