Need help finding new location for Parking In The Pines (CO)

Post by calivw78 » Thu Sep 11, 2008 12:36 am

Details at http://calivw78.com/pitp

To sum it up though, most people don't like camping in snow and apparently have other agendas that are higher priority than camping, during Mothers Day weekend. Yeah, I couldn't believe it either :)

Anyways, I need help finding a place (idealy within 2 hours of Denver, CO) for a camp out. I've noted some suggestions etc at the external link I provided.

Anyone got something?
Peace, Troy

That would be cool for sure, but I was hoping to find something a little closer.

my dad and step-mom packed up and left their summer some in estes park. that means i'll be opening up my winter retreat soon. at the end of their road is the estes park campground. I checked it out yesterday. it's a decent candidate. it's at the base of thunder mountain. dad's place is at the top.

Paonia State Park looks like another good spot to get away from it all too.

BTW, I was confused when you said Toroweap. Was mistakenly thinking Grand Canyon area.
