Cool Jasan. I figured you were tired or tied up after your recent trip.
Yeah it starts at 4610 where Gypsie broke down last year, but turns off to the right at 4611 after about 6 miles. Go to that Googlemap link, it tells the story.
The trail heading down to the Roaring River is an old Indian trail, I'm excited to check it out. It also has an abandoned section I'm gonna try to find.
I'll be heading out early Thursday...I was gonna only stay a night but if someone is joining me out there I won't feel like such a weirdo and will stay longer. Hope you can make it, let me know. My daughter is coming in to PDX Saturday so I gotta split in the morning. I sure could use a couple days of beer etc. in the woods tho.. :drunken:

Hey hammie, remember when we went bushwacking down to the Roaring River. I still beat you back up out of the canyon by like 10 minutes even though you shouted "You're going the WRONG WAY!". :cherry: Have fun. :pirate:

Great pics! Yeeehaw that was a crazy road..a couple of questionable spots, dips into mud pits etc. Tons of solitude tho. Worked on an obsure historic trail for 2 days, lots of work but what a beautiful place. The whole area was like a marshy meadow.
At one point on Friday nite when I was camping alone, I was starting to think about cougars when I heard a rustlin in the bushes. Then a nearly tame doe walks out in front of me, and hangs out grazing for a 1/2 hour or so. Maybe nature's way of telling me to mellow out?
I'll post a couple pics later.
Mark ya gotta try to swing a couple days off this summer. Crooked River maybe? Let me know if ya can.

Was the road as bad as that one we went up on by Canyon Creek?

Just as narrow, but worse...1st gear for about 4 miles. Part of my rear side reflector got torn off, nothing more fun than trying to find a 1-year part......
The camp spot wasn't too spectacular, strange weird abandoned roads with huge puddles full of newts. But the trails and Roaring River wilderness are really beautiful and remote. Huxley Lake isn't too far either, up another trail.

Oops!! Hopefully you can find a new reflector, way to go there turbo :blackeye:

Looks like some really cool trails. Hopefully the upcoming move allows us to get out at least one more time, this summer may be chewed up with getting all our s**t 3/4 of the way across the state. Who knows though, they are paying for the move so hopefully that cuts down on our work a bunch.......*I hope*

Damn, you really did some big work on that trail. Could hardly tell it was there before.

It was actually dropped way down to the right. The orignal tread was all grown over and people were walking away from the brush for many years. Lots of roots in that crap too! Ugh I still hurt. Forests and mountains do not appreciate straight lines.

Hope you can make at least one more trip. I want to do the Hambone Springs camp again this year, maybe the end of July. I've got some time off, would be a good place to spend a few days.

I guess I missed that this deal got inked. Congrats.

Looking over that way ourselves.
So it all started when I wanted to get better gas mileage....
