May 2007 Oregon Camping

Post by hambone » Mon May 14, 2007 9:59 am

Is it time for another trip? I think so. It's always more fun with Bus Folks..
Can you believe May is 1/2 over already? We have 19-20 and then Memorial Day weekend.
Anyone interested in hitting the boonies? I may have Eva with me, but she's a good camper.
I'm thinking of a close trip, either Salmon Huckleberry Wilderness or the northern part of Bull of the Woods. Snow shouldn't be an issue any more, especially with the nice warm sunny weather on the way.

Damn it, I wanna go! Alas my bus is without power plant at the moment and probably will be for another month or so. I'm keeping the old engine out to keep me motivated on getting the new one done. Would I be a total outcast if I drove the F@&d and slept in a tent? :blackeye:
Chorizo, it's what's for breakfast.

 Setting up the tent could take a good 20 minutes though! Although it could make for more crowds I vote for Memorial Day weekend. I think it's suppose to rain this weekend. Tent camping in the rain's a real drag.

Nope but if you have a good Forest Service map and know how to use it I'm sure we could rendevous somewheres. Do you trust yer bus in the boonies?
I wouldn't be able to go until Friday Eve. anyway.

yeah, she's solid. i need to replace a couple of tires, but other than that, she's great. did a good amount of hill climbing up one of those roads right near the clackamas/collowash confluence and even found an abandoned early bay on the side of the road way up. my bus kinda shivered a little passing its carcass.
