Pot Creeeeek man. The other spot is smaller. In fact, B. Bottom will be Plan B.
Where is that Sluggo???

Pot Creek:
http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=portl ... s&t=m&z=10

224 past Estacada to Ripplebrook
46 at Ripplebrook
Pass 63 (to your right)
stay on 46 all the way to the camp, following the Clackamas
Just past 4660 (goes uphill to your left) take the next driveway to your left. Follow it 1/8 mile to the end.
If you hit 42 then you've gone too far.

Plan B
Big Bottom
Same as above, but turn RIGHT on RD 4650 and cross a bridge. (This is just before RD 4660.) As soon as you cross the bridge, take the first LEFT (gravel). Go about 2 miles, camp is on the left.

Allright you guys, the camp is only in a couple days. Weather doesn't look too bad, a chance of snow Friday that would be nice.
It looks like the road out there is fine:
From Don, I don't know why he doesn't post this himself

And I quote: "I went up the Clack today for a hike and to see where the snow is. The roads were just wet up to Big Bottom (2000') and started to have frozen snow and ice from there up, mainly in the shade. No problem getting to Pot Creek, for I drove into the campsite (see photo). If you were driving earlier in the morning or after dark you might see more icy spots. I was up in that area around noon. Nice day hiking the Switch Creek Trail and no snow at 2800' at the top. "
NO photo I'm too lazy.

I think I like "big fanny" instead of big bottom. Less of an outrage, time to get the maps changed. "Fanny".
Finish up your Xmas crap and get out in the woods, the winter solstice is pretty special. WHAM the night falls.

Hal,
You thinking about it? You know you want to.
We could carabus up Friday morning?
Mike
P.S.
Hey Don, I passed you Monday on Redland road driving your VW emblemed Ford around 4:00. When are you going to put your new ride to the test?

Still not sure I'm going to make it. If I do it will just be for Saturday night.

I'll be heading out on Friday around noon. Can't wait. This camp out is always one of my favorites.

I think me too. It's been a crazy busy week, go figure. I'll just see you guys out there.
When you get to the Pot turnoff, keep going down that crappy road til the end. There is a big clearing in the trees.
If someone is camped there, we'll figure out plan B. It's doubtful though right before Christmas.

At best I'll be able to make a day-trip out on Saturday. Friday I've gotta catch up on all the stuff I couldn't do (because I wasn't home) last weekend, Sunday I work 10a-4p, Bus is in disarray and the sleeping bags need to be washed...

I just got an email that it's going to cost us an additional 10% lodging fee tax for Pot Creek.
Oh wait, 10% of free is still free.
I'm good. :bootyshake:

Ha!
This is the first camp that I'm not all packed and ready a week ahead of time. Heck it's hard to believe we'll be OUT there in a couple of days! I have been severely distracted by city life.

Big Fanny forecast:
Friday A chance of snow before 10am, then rain. High near 38. South wind 6 to 13 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
Friday Night Rain. Low around 34. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Saturday A 50 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 41.
Saturday Night A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32.
Sunday A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41.

Hell not bad for late December. Better than a couple of weeks ago...
Friday night is the Solstice, bring your big bags of Pagan doo-dads. hoot-hoooooooooooooot
