Some places are restricted, some aren't. Might be worse by then. Being close to water, we should probably be cool.

Usually they close a whole district or N.F.
We were told down in foggy wet central coast that fire bans were in effect.

Yeah, tough time of year if ya want a camp fire.
Our last outing was fire free as the entire G-F NF and wenatchee NF had burn restrictions. And I brought a crap load of firewood and could have doubled my stock just by picking up the bundles folks had left at the campgrounds when they found out about the fire restrictions.

They seem to be trippin' this year after the California season. It seems "wetter" than last year at this time. But I bet the cold, wet, long winter made for lots of undergrowth.

True. Except we were surprised when we went to a state park (on the same trip) that was out of the mountains and on the very dry side of the state...they allowed fires. I was ultra careful as I saw myself being "that guy" that sparked a huge forest fire. Luckily I was drinking beer and dousing the fire was easier then walking down to the potty

There were some rumblins last nite that the Bend area is too far for some of us for a weekend trip, and to possibly go someplace further north.
You guys ever been to the Middle Santiam Wilderness area? Very big old growth trees, some of the biggest in Oregon (surrounded by clearcuts of course). Anyway it's more centrally located for all of us and I just wanted to throw that out there. I've been in the area a few times and know of a couple nice camp spots.
Here's a map of the general area, between OR22 and US20.

This place is great too, not too far from Maupin. Maybe Mark would be able to make a cameo appearance??? The road drops down into the White River and there is a nice camp down at the bottom. I think I'd really rather be somewhere in the desert, so this does fit the bill.

Anyway just thought I'd send some other suggestions y'alls way. Chat about it amongst yerselves. I personally can't make it as far as Bend for a couple days, but don't let me be th' wet blanket! Whatever works for everyone.
