I'm saving this! But need a long-term storage/work space.

Post locations of Air-Cooled VW's that need to be saved from destruction. Post pics if possible.

I'm saving this! But need a long-term storage/work space.

After years of admiring this abandoned panel, I was recently told I could have her if I wanted her. Well, I already named her. :-) Miss Zora has a sister.

As always, finding a place where she can be stored long-term while I earn money to start the repairs is a huge challenge. I just want to fix the rusted out areas so I don't fall out while I'm driving and make her drivable and street legal. MZ has been a multi-year labor of love so I'm used to moving slowly.

The move doesn't have to happen right away but by August? Maybe we could make a camping trip out of it. The bus is on property adjacent to Gorgerunner's. I have a lead on a space in Washington and just happen to have a portable garage.

Nice score Paige! I too dream of the pound puppy rescue! And when I think of Ruby, I think of:

You've painted up your lips and rolled and curled your tinted hair
Ruby are you contemplating going out somewhere?
The shadow on the wall tells me the sun is going down
Oh Ruby, don't take your love to town
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue, I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace. Where never lark, or even eagle flew. And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod, The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Yeah, I do have to do a title search but I do know how to get a hold of the previous owner.
She won't be ready for for registration for quite some time. I'll start working on that soon.

Nice! I think you're gonna need more than a place store it though...

A labor of love. Some people just don't get the motivation for projects like this, but I do. What an awesome task to bring that back to life!

I just thought of something else... do you know any pilots or otherwise anyone who works at one of the local airports (Troutdale, Hillsboro, etc.)? The reason I ask is sometimes FBO's (Fixed Base Operators, aka companies that own airplane hangars at airports) might be willing to loan or rent very inexpensively a corner of a hangar that it otherwise unusable space. Some of the benefits are obvious (warm and dry), but airplane hangars are very secure and there are people that work in them that have very useful skills (like welding and metal fabrication). Aviation folk are also suckers for tradition and "The Golden Age of..." and might take a shine to someone willing to restore a piece of the past.

Like I said, just a thought.

That's not a Barndoor. (Not taking anything away from it - looks like a solid shell!) Keep us posted!
