1981 Aircooled Vanagon Westfalia

Post by davebrossi » Thu Oct 02, 2014 8:20 am

Hi All,

I'm cross posting this from my ad on The Samba, but I also wanted to put it out there here in case anyone is interested, so, here goes;

1981 Vanagon Westfalia. Well cared for with 129k original miles. A Southern California Westfalia with no rust or accident damage. Newly installed interior including seats, carpets, pop-top canvas, and GoWesty curtains. All camping appliances work as new. Propane, fresh water, and refrigerator systems are in proper working order, ready to go camping.

Mechanically, the van is in very good condition. Recent front suspension replacement. New tires 1000 miles ago. Engine and transmission are in very good condition. Engine starts easily and idles perfectly. Transmission sychros all operate properly. Clutch works effortlessly. Selling because I'm ready to move up to a Synchro or Eurovan.

A few recent changes/upgrades include:
• GoWesty headlight upgrade kit -- replaces sealed beams with Hella improved lighting.
• Secondary battery and dual A/C inverters
• Updated sound system and speakers
• New interior
*vehicle passed Smog testing prior to my purchase
*Passenger's side head and #1 cylinder and piston replaced in 2012

This Westfalia needs nothing and is ready for camping this Fall.

*a note on the 'dark spots;' they were areas sanded, then covered in POR15 Prep as a preventative measure. I've doctor Color Chip paint I'll be using on the nicks and dings, these included.

Spare parts include;
-used ECU unknown condition
-Starter motor assembly unknown condition
-spare interior upholstery material
-Propex heating kit (new, not installed)
-GoWesty large sized propane tank, regulator, etc (new, not installed)
-new Fuel Filter
-Wired but not installed; Digital Tachometer, Digital engine head temp sensor, VDO Oil pressure sensor kit from Van Cafe
-GoWesty Rubber mats have been installed over all carpeting so you don't have to worry about ruining the new stuff!

No because the price isn't present doesn't mean it's free :-). I'm looking for around 11250. Price has some flexibility.

beautiful van. that is definitely top dollar for an aircooled Vanagon, which you may be able to get - but id seriously consider detailing that engine compartment. everything else looks really good. a few hours with some hot soapy water and a little elbow grease and it could match the rest of it.
