Meanwhile, tonight I got the call I didn't want to get, "Hi, this is Christian, we're going to find Mom, she's broken down in Bertha." Great. Fortunately a minor ailment. This is now the third set of points in a row that have prematurely failed. The rider block breaks off and the points lose their gap. Spare set of points in the car. Now I'm gonna have to do a bit of a tune-up, and pick-up two sets of spare points before changing the oil and checking the tire pressure getting beer and and and heading on over.

Now wait just a doggone minute here Chris, did I read that right? You're in Bend in a hotel with your camper parked in the lot?

You also might have an easier time with a pair of needle nose pliers. A bit better designed to bridge the gap.

This looks like a great time. Good to see stuff like this going on at the almost opposite end of the country.
I believe I watched a vid Neal made of this from a previous year, it looked very nice. We have some big events like that in North Carolina, it's been a few years since I've been able to make it. We have some smaller ones in FL that get 12 to 35 buses.

Made it back up the windy, windy, windy gorge on the WA side. Stopped for gas just at I-84 down from Maupin and was asked by the attendant "is there a VW convention or something this weekend?"

Good times.

Wish I could have made it but got my brother in law successfully married yesterday! His kids were glowing, his new wife was glowing and he was glowing. Life was as good as could be last night! Here's looking at 2012, end of the world, and all that!

I made it back home to the Bay area in under 11 hours, with just stopping for gas and a 40 minute stop in Redding for lunch. The nasty headwind I had to deal with on the way up was my friend on the way back today!

What an excellent weekend!! So many very cool and wonderful people, weather was great for the most part, and it was just a really fun weekend. I'm sure I met some folks there that I will know for some time to come.

Can't wait till next year
