Remember there are lots of kids there trying to play and interact and they don't listen to the music at all it.....
I agree with Bleyseng and Static. The two Marks playing on Friday night were great. The rest of it I could take or leave. Not dissing the talent, which is awesome, but I've had more fun listening to the informal jams (and sometimes participating in them) than listening to the amplified stuff.

It's an unfortunate trend I've seen elsewhere as well. A couple of years ago, the London Bridge Bullis brought in LOUD amplified music for both nights of the Buses By the Bridge show. It damn near killed all the evening jams that made the event so popular with folks like me. I sure don't want to see the RendezVW turn into this as well.

When the only place you can hold a conversation when the band is playing is around the area of the front gate, something's wrong.

Please no electric music next year.
Not at all a good fit for this sort of event.
I could very happily live out my years without ever hearing "Smoke On the Water" again.

Man, I don't think there has been this much controversy in electric music sense Bob Dylan picked up a Stratocaster. :geek:

I have to agree...Friday's music set was great, the after hours jams very cool, Saturday....well. Very talented, but it was hard for someone new like myself to talk and get to know folks who I may only see once a year. I know this is probably a dead horse by now, but just wanted to give a first timers opinion.

Thank you Mark, you put on an event very much worth the 12 hour drive. Looking forward very much to becoming a regular! See ya next year!

With a little luck I'll be driving the Manta next year. As I have said many times, it's purely for financial reasons that I don't own a VW. =\

that all depends on what your starting point in VW ownership is. it can take one heck of a lot of dough to go from project to maintained runner.

Exactly! I can either afford the car, or the parts, not both.
And no, the $3000 bus that is actually good is out of my budget... By a good 500%. If not more. :silent:

Yes, dead. Next year will be a hip hop group on Friday and Lady Gaga and the Black Eyed Peas Saturday. Acoustic instruments will be confiscated at the gate. :geek:

And, no, I won't dis-allow non VW owners from driving through and admiring our buses. I only counted 4 or 5 totally interested folks driving through to take a gander. Didn't rattle my feathers at all...in fact I encouraged them to take a swing through, as many were amazed to see so many VW's in one place....kinda like getting a "peace sign" from someone passing me on the road who's in an SUV...and yes, I return the sign.

I believe there were maybe four non-VW's camping??? Two with Fancypant's band...one was Xelmon, one a good friend of a bus owner who I like. Problem? Not.

I would however like to find the SOB who stole the banner posted on the sign at the gate. Likely not one of the RendezVW'ers ... but I'd still like to find 'em. :rr:

Further suggestions, complaints, comments. Please PM me.

Already looking forward to next year! Father's Day Weekend 2012. Be here! Gonna be grand!!!!!
