Campout was wonderful. Weather wasn't too bad. Potluck & campfire music fest were very fun. My beans burned to a crisp (First attempt at Dutch Oven cooking). Meatloaf balls tasted way better than they looked. Mussels we harvested were wonderful. deschutestrout made some great guacamole, Paige made some excellent banana bread, IFBWax's Tritip ROCKED!. Forgot to take pictures of the dozen very drunk non-VW neighbors that showed up after all that. Then went on a drunken walk to the beach with LiveonJG, Hambone & Ryan. Massive hangover on Sunday but it was worth it.

PICS!

Raccoons were relentless. They stole our chips on Thursday and tried to steal our NY Strip Steaks! Then they hit 71vistacruisers kid all night in his tent. On Saturday night they hit the deck of the yurt he got to avoid them! Then they spread trash all over our porch while we were asleep. Really bold little guys. Kept trying to get on the deck and to our food for a few hours on Thursday. Didn't even care if we were there. At one point Ryan charged them and one ran straight for me. I ended up having to jump over it to avoid a collision!

Gads--- what a beautifull place. No wonder you don,t mind the wetness.

That "Yurt" looks like 5 star camping.

Thanks for picture sharing, I want to see the roof rack loaded up, any chance of that?

Is that place really crowded in the summer? or do you even bother?

Thanks, Barb

I was talking about bringing the fam in the summer and was told it is packed and annoying.

I've gone there a few times in summer. It's not that bad from a "packed" standpoint. Trouble was, every time we've gone, including when it was 100 plus in the valley, it was drizzly and windy and downright cold. Way colder (feeling wise) then this past weekend. My wife said never again after the last time we were burned.
The best navigators aren't sure where they're going until they get there. And then they're still not sure.

The coast does that weather wise - the inland heat brings onshore cooling. We've seen the fog sit from the ocean to just inside Hwy 101 in Lincoln City during the summer, it's a pain, but better than 100 degrees I guess.

Ah, yeah, seems like that's how the coast was last summer.

Dude, I'd settle for 100 cause I seriously bothered me to no end to arrive and sit around in 60-ish weather. Then when I left back to Portland, nigh 2 miles in its Nice and 85+.
That is whacked.

That's the coast .. all the way down to at least Monterey, probably farther. I don't think it gets beach-like (think "surf movie" scenery) until you hit Santa Barbara....

Then I got hella lucky for many years, since every time we went down it was downright gorgeous!
