Horning's Hideout

Post by poptop tom » Wed Feb 24, 2010 10:27 am

My girlfriend and I scored two tix for the String Cheese shows this summer at Horning's Hideout!

We'll be flying out of Chicago and into PDX, meeting up with friends from Jacksonville for the four nights of camping at Horning's. (No way we could drive the 3,200 miles one way in a bus due to amount of time we have to be away from work).

Any helpful hints from those who may have been to Horning's Hideout in the past?

This is out first visit to the PNW! Can't wait!

It's in the Willamette Valley so it very much resembles the Midwest. A cruel twist of fate????
I'm sure you'll have fun with the music and friends. There really isn't much advice, it's a small private place with a grassy field for a camp.

I think LiveonJG usually goes to Horning's every year for the show. Might want to send him a PM for some inside info.
Chorizo, it's what's for breakfast.

You'll want to get there as early as possible to get a decent camping spot in the shade. Bob Horning's neighbor has been logging right up to his property and some of the shady camping has been lost.

Hide your beer. They don't allow outside alcohol, but the search isn't too bad and I usually put it in the bottom of my cooler and some wrapped in clothing. They do pat down your luggage and open coolers, but not much more.

Have fun!! Wish I was going, but I'm trying to get to Telluride for Bluegrass Fest and again for The Phish :compress:
