@ "Dumpster Westy":
That was one of us Portlanders... I actually don't know his logon or the buses name!

@ misszora:
Oh snap, what's up with the double front wheel removal? It also looks like it was later in the day, since everybody who was still there was packed.

Xelmon: Bill & Melissa's brakes failed as they were leaving. Couldn't have been a more perfect place for that to happen.

Fire Hoopin'

Post by misszora » Mon Jun 21, 2010 7:54 am

Kurt put a little piece together of the fire hooping the first night and added some music so he could edit out the part where my hoop fell. :drunken:

No not yet- I started a thread to garner some collective troubleshooting support for them - they are about 45 minutes away but having recurring problems :pale:
Who? What? Why? Bill and Melissa with Sweetpea? What is going on?

I sent them off at 3:30PM or so, engine seemed fine, brakes were . . . addressed with warnings for drive home. Did they make it, pleeezepleeezepleeze?

They made it...it was an issue with the points in the distributor as far as the engine issue. Troy helped them too and they got towed to a safe place. Last I heard they were ready to replace/fix the part and hit the road. All is good.
They were very moved by the wonderful people who helped them.

I'll be hanging out here for a while it looks like, maybe we can take a road trip out there tomorrow. Have fun y'all, I'll be there for sure next year! If anyone is around the Vancouver area and wants a beer, give me a call.
Dyin' to know where this went. Last I heard there was gonna be a raid on a P-town bus for a transaxle....

Hope we don't have to raise bail money for the raiders. You've heard of the navy seals?...These here are the Dub Dachshunds. Stealthily crawlin' under busses, pullin' parts, hopin' the neighbors don't come after em with the garden hose...

Guess I'll have to find out tonight at the Lab. The suspense is killing me.
So it all started when I wanted to get better gas mileage....

I think they were going to take Ramona's tranny from Neal's place.

We squelched that plan when it was discovered that AA Transaxle was shipping out.

made it home safe and sound...

she climbed out of maupin and hit the freeway with no problems - driving the best she ever has (thank you collin). we pulled over in the dalles and then again at blaylock canyon just west of arlington to check on things and everything looked/sounded great.

we pulled back on to 84 the second time and made the climb up to the top of the hill just before arlington when the engine sputtered and died. we coasted to a safe spot on the shoulder and took a quick look. appeared to be either a fuel or electrical issue so we ran some quick tests and called home for a friendly tow. the light would be fading fast so we did not want to be working in the dark - especially with family sitting inside.

we pulled into the house about 1-1/2 hrs later and got to work. removed the dizzy first and it ended up being the rubbing block on the points... snapped off in place which also killed the coil.

everything is now replaced, properly set, lubricated and re-installed. just waiting on a new coil which will be here in the am along with a new master cylinder to put in and restore our rear braking.

thanks to everyone for their thoughts and especially to you colin... i've learned alot. not only mechanically, but of the support and kindness that this community shows.

What a blast we had!

Thanks Mark, for hosting this gathering and all the work you put into it.

Left Maupin, took a peak at Crater Lake, and rolled into California's coastal redwoods this morning after a restful night at a financially neglected rest area.

Glorious day, glorious weather, gearing up for lunch in Arcata.
