Post by deschutestrout » Fri Jun 26, 2009 6:21 pm

Well, the dust has settled from last week's event, and I'm looking ahead to next year. THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO ATTENDED FOR MAKING IT THE BEST YEAR YET!!!

IMPORTANT: Next year, the event will be LIMITED TO 75 VEHICLES! Pre-registration is required, and the 1st 75 I receive are in. If you're planning to attend, don't dilly-dally, I've already received several registrations for 2010! =D>

You may be sweating and/or cussing on the drive back home saying "crap, he was serious! 75 buses are already registered...what was I thinking? Now I have to drive home or find somewhere else around Maupin to park and walk in to the event" Pre-register if you're coming. I'm not sweating at all...1st 75 are in

Anyone from the Midwest going to this? How long does it take to drive? I've never been to Oregon.

Manfred, check out Chitwnvw's threads. He drove from PDX back to Chicago. Maupin is more central so subtract like 2hrs or so/190 miles...

3-4 days to do it right, less if you drive continuously. 2000 miles.

Thanks Hammie. He read it, just didn't respond. :blackeye:

Hey Manfred, We drove up from Austin (2010 miles) this year and are planning on doing the same - only with Phred (our bus) next year. It's doable! :flower: And sooooo worth it!

I drove up from the Bay Area (about 1300 miles round trip). I agree that it was worth it. If I was coming from Chicago I would make a two-week trip out of it and visit Portland and maybe the OR coast as well. You may decide to heck with the Midwest at that point and stick around. That's how we ended up in California.

As for pre-registering, that is a big decision for me. I'm a notorious procrastinator. I may have to sleep in someone's fold-out cot next year.
