So I take it the beerama was a success?

Basically, it was a PhD education in beer. In an hour.
Like my last-year's Master's degree, this was a life-changing experience.

Beer tasting pix later. Still recovering from a rainy, windy 10hr run back to the Kootenays.

It's the Black Butte XXI. Release date is the 27th, a big 21st anniversary party downtown at the Bend pub. I'd bet the Portland pub is going to have something going on, too. It is damn sweet nectar for sure!

Here's last years, the XX:

I've been trying to count from the photos, did we have about 30+ different beers?

Thanks. I might have to hit the brewery downtown this weekend. I think it was at least 30. I never got to see if the Stone Imperial that I brought got opened. I think I had to step back by that time.

I believe it did, but my recollection of that time is just a little hazy.

I stopped counting at 40 different brews, and more kept coming...and good ones like the Big Sky IPA. I bet we almost had 50 unique labels on the table(s).

That tasting was epic, I usually don't step away from beer but I had to take a breather too.

I said at the time to a couple of people and I believe it to this day... I said there was not a better beer tasting in the entire world than the one in Maupin that day... and maybe you could say week instead of day.

What a fine collection of quality beers.

Next time.. I think if we have that many people I'd suggest we each bring two big bottles of the same thing.. that way, one bottle can loop around one way and the other can loop around the other way.. as it was, some of the beer ran out before I could taste it..

(Not that I didn't have plenty).

I was AWED by the number of people and beers that participated.

Many a good beer died that day for a righteous cause. God rest their souls.

You know when Wayne is getting close to the brink though, the smile gets less mobile , the eyes start to glass over and there is just a slight hint of swaying in the breeze...

Still haven't seen him stop til there all done tasted...

I think for true tasting satisfaction, and cause I do like to taste the differences, a spit bucket be placed. In the outback I would say 'aim for a bush but there in the middle of the eating zone I wouldn't recommend it. I can't make it through 40 2-4 oz tasters wioth out spitting a few out....after the first 20 they all start to blend.
So it all started when I wanted to get better gas mileage....
