Don't listen to Static, Gypsie. He lies like a rug. We are actually very nice people, despite those rumors. And the last time, the cops were actually looking for somebody else ...static wrote:Gypsie wrote:I wish I were close enough to camp with y'all. seem like great folk.
You would be mistaken.
Maybe we'll see you at Maupin?
I'll probably be doing a cross country trip within the next year... PM me your location, and I'll see if you're somewhere en route.

We'll have to have a Meet-n-da-Middle event. Somewhere's between Shasta and Medford. Something on the border, perhaps.
To expand on that, I just looked in the Road Atlas. It seems that Portland to the Or/Ca border is ~300 miles. It seems that the SF Bay Area to the Ca/Or border is ~320 miles.
We can call it, the 1st annual, Buses on the Border GTG
Or, Leaning on the Fence
Or, 1st Annual OrCa GTG

Here's a link to the Two Day Town camping/music festival from April 24-26. Put it into slide show for best results, IMO.

My pic's do not do justice for the event.
The close ups of the quilt squares are from my kids. We are blessed to have had their squares picked among the many entries that make up the quilt(s). The squares were done at last years event. The quilt is made up during the year to be raffled off at the next years event. In this case, you'll see Ray's landscape square with 2008 written on it. Amy did the one of our Westy.
See ya there next year,

Train Spotting! Campout June 12-14 in Plumas County, CA
Hi volks!
I am posting a reminder about the Train Spotting Camping GTG in June. I made a website to provide more info: <http://www.landscapelegacy.com/Train_Sp ... lcome.html> and posted the event on the Yahoo VW Camper Family calendar. There are still plenty of sites available for reservations. It is a small campground and may fill up fast.
Below are the guts of the original post, all now online:
Join me for a weekend of train spotting and a soak in a hot spring June 12-14, 2009. Reserve a spot at Hallsted Campground in Plumas County, near the town of Twain on Highway 70. Enjoy the scenic drive along the Feather River Canyon, the waterfalls spilling out of the canyon hillsides and the sounds of trains passing through the night.
Nearby is Woody's Hot Spring, a mineral spring enjoyed by most folks in a natural state (clothing optional) and the Keddie WYE, where two train tracks merge into one before they pass into a tunnel under the mountain.
I have reserved site no. 13. I can only reserve one site. Two vehicles per site are allowed. The campground has water and vault toilets-no showers. There are some nearby areas for swimming and rafting but I am not sure where. The PCT is currently closed due to last year's Rich fire.
To reserve a spot:
http://www.recreation.gov/ and search for Hallsted campground, Twain, CA.
