Thought I'd start a separate thread for this gathering.

June 6-9th.

The Wooded Wonderland. Galena, IL

Wow, they have a website now.

Edit 2X for dates.

Yeah! That place is nice. Nice people too. There is also a blue sign on U.S route 20 that marks the turn onto Devil's Ladder Road.

I'll stand on US 20 and wave people in if that's what it takes...

It's a bit tricky but I found it after dark, remember you and Jen came out with the flashlights!, ...so I think it's doable...we are all bright people.

VWbusrepairman?? That's quite a ways. You could take route 38 or 64 if you are coming from a more southern direction.

chitwnvw said I had to go. For the record, I've driven my bus to Mexico and back twice and I have faith that it can make the journey (especially since a guru is behind the wheel).

how many miles are we talking from Bloomington, Indiana? (the southern direction)

I would guess 300 to 350. You could take I-74 from Indianapolis through Illinois, maybe to IL 84.

Here's what mapquest came up with:
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/Bloomington+IN/Galena+IL/

I wouldn't have gone that way. If you do go that way we can meet up in Chicago and caravan.

I might be in on this gathering. I'm unclear as to where we would be camping though. Would I need a reservation?

No reservations. We'll just show up here:

Wooded Wonderland

and find a spot. I was a little unsure the first time, but once you've been there it'll all make sense.

Sounds good. It's a little strange that they have no camping information on their website. Maybe they want it that way.

I can't describe it. You have to experience it. An adventure. You're among friends!

No toilets! Just like Granpop used to poop.
Place has been in the same family for many generations, the current owner was born there. Back in the woods is the ruin of their original house. Camping is allover the place, lots of wide open space in a small grassy valley, surrounded by woods.
Still haven't had a chance to make my reservations yet. Gonna be weird to go all the way to Chicago and not spend much time there.
Turk, are you driving? That way I got someplace to sleep! Teri wants to go too. Leave Sat come back Monday? I'll try to get a flight back to Portland on Tuesday.

Update: I got my ticket today! Hope to see ya'll Sat-Sun nite out there.

If you don't drive your camper I'll have to lug a tent with me, that's why I was asking. Geesh.
