According to the schedule, he'll be at the Lab tonight. But not a peep here. I'm confused, not that that's anything new.

Well, I think Colin will be there. Haven't heard for sure but us regulars will be down around 6ish.
Chorizo, it's what's for breakfast.

Great to meet Colin and get some of his Wizzened advice. he tickled the new wagon and now she doesn't smell like unburned gas. he said I may have a compression issue....Aaargh.

He had a really cool tiedye to boot.

This lifestyle suits you Colin. Hope you can find the balance we all seek.
So it all started when I wanted to get better gas mileage....

There are two kinds of balance, if I may use an automotive analogy.
One sticks the mass near the center, low polar moment of inertia like a Porsche 914. It is quickly responsive to change but prone to spinning out. Mobs have a low polar moment of inertia.

The other has mass hanging out at the ends, it is very stable in a straight line like a Greyhound bus, but when it is finally provoked into a slide, that damn thing is going to spin out all right. Country Clubs with secret rituals have a high polar moment of inertia.

American popular culture is spinning like a Porsche 914 and the stupid driver of the Greyhound bus doesn't quite get it as he blithely drives down the freeway with a politician's name on it. After all, the bus outweighs the Porsche by 200 times, but that very inertia that makes the driver feel confident is the very inertia that is going to send the bus through the guardrail. . . and the driver has a front row seat to the party.

My balance issue is this. Do I want to be sitting on the Porsche 914's targa top where I can jump, or do I want to be in the back of the bus?

Good to see you again Colin. I'm still enjoying the envy my bus instilled in you. Hope the next set of ball joints treats you better. See you next year at the Deschutes RendezVW.
