Half a dozen or so of us are gathering at Brainard Lake just north of Ward, Colorado for a weekend of camping. Ward is NW of the Denver metro area about 20 miles NW of Boulder. Mark your calendars and check back here for more details.

see http://calivw78.com/wordpress/?page_id=27 for more details.

Golly I miss that area! I lived in Boulder in the 80's...for about 9 years...x-country skied at Brainard many-a-time. Have fun...wish I was there.

Got room for one more? Is this going to be a kid-friendly event?

It's great to see all the camping fun take off on this site, all over the country now.

Brainard Lake... What a beautiful place. I was out there a few years back on a fishing/road trip and spent a night or two there with a buddy from Longmont. There are SO many places to see in this world, but I'd certainly like to go back to there one day!

Take pics you lucky dogs!
Love your bus.

so brainard doesn't open for another month. the plan is to scope out reverend's ridge camp site at golden gate state park in coal creek canyon (near golden). If that isn't a go the backup plan is moraine park campground inside of RMNP. that's the estes park side. if that is full or for some reason not available (it's open all year and this is pre-camping season still) the backup plan is a privately run campground and rv place (yeah yeah. rv's. blah) just outside the fall river road entrance to RMNP. here's a link to their site.

we will have made a firm decision on golden gate state park by monday.

Great! I'd love to join you folks. At the minimum, I'll be bringing my son with me. My wife and/or daughter may also join us. Too bad Brainard is closed (snow??), but RMNP is a little closer to us, so that'll be nice. I'll drop you an email to get the details.

Oops, guess I was typing too slowly. Golden would be farther, but we'll manage.

Updated again. Golden Gate Canyon state park is 'the' place to be now. The webpage is updated with more info so check it out. Should be a good time.

=D> Those are the best line up camp picts ever. How very great with the kids and dog in front. And the lady in the yoga position on top is a keeper. Thanks for sharing your later bays. Barb
