You mean here? I think that may be buried under snow this early. There is a campground at the crossing of Little Badger, but it seemed to be in a dark bowl.
I'm open for anything as long as there's wilderness nearby. I can't sit still...

Sorry for the late post...nope that isn't where I meant...that IS under snow...BONNEY Crossing is where I was talkin...on Badger creek out of Wamic. I'm jonezin' to go! Bob...what instruments are you planning to take? I'll likely tote my gitbox, harps and mando. I don't care where we camp either....I usually seek a water-side site if possible tho...but then the primary ingredient of beer is water...so, I guess we're set regardless :drunken:

That area outlined in blue on the map is where Bonney Meadows is. Bonney Crossing is on the east side of Badger Creek wilderness. That Bonney Crossing campground looks perfect. Right on the edge of the wilderness area and at the trail head for Badger Creek trail. Did you say you've been up there Mark? Think it'll be snow free in two weeks? I've camped at Rock Creek Reservoir and Pine Hollow but never been any further north on that side of the wilderness area.
Chorizo, it's what's for breakfast.

Nope, sorry to say I haven't been there. BUT, my Forest Service buddy said it is a nice forested little campground right on the creek and is snow-free...and, as you said, access to tons of hiking, fishing, belching, etc. :drunken: We could check it out as plan A and move to plan B or C if needed (plan B or C would be drive until we find something we say "we shall dwell in this place" (I forget what movie that's from but the phrase has been used often in my camping circle :cyclopsani: )

Not much. Are you going to be able to make this one? So have you been turned into a cold, hard killing machine yet? :joker:

Mark, sounds like a nice spot. Like you said we can play it by ear when we get up there.

The only objection I have is to PAY for camping. Screw that! Especially on Public Land. What say thee?

We may have to go thru a couple snow drifts getting to Bonny Crossing on what is called the North South road. Little Badger Campground is on the north side of things, but seemed kinda dark and clammy down there...but bring chains (crap I have to buy some now)

I'll bring the geetar, possibly the mandolin but I'm still pretty rusty on it. Have been practicing tho!

Hey Jasan I may be able to split on Thursday evening, negotiations are going well...

Spiff are you goin? You're welcome to shack up in Hambone Manor the night before if so inclined. I'll have Wednesday - Sunday off work, that'll be nice.

Haven't heard from Gyspie in some time, not sure if he's going.

Week and 1/2! Time flies. Supposed to be cold tomorrow, hope we get the warm weather back.........

Not if we can help it. Is Bonney Crossing a pay site?

Cool. I have a friend that wants to go also but she's not sure she can get Friday off. If you can leave on Thursday, when would you want to head out? I may not be able to get out of town 'till after 4:00 at the earliest.

4:00 sounds fine and dandy to me. I was thinking mid afternoon anyway. Not sure about it being a pay site, I'll look into it.
Right now I get to ride home in the rain without a raincoat, and idiot that deserves his fate.

According to the Forest Service site...there is a $3 fee to camp...but I'm sure they won't enforce the add'l vehicle rule :bounce:

This time of year I'd be surprised to even see a ranger up there to enforce the $3 fee.

780 NE Court Street
Dufur, Oregon 97021
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:45am - 4:30pm
Telephone Voice: (541) 467-2291

I called em', no fee until April but the ranger wasn't sure if the route back there was open. I did run into snow last year at this time and even got stuck for a bit. I'm going to call the White River DFW folks they're usually pretty helpful.

Hope you can make it. It's really beautiful country.

Finally got a hold of the White River guys. The road in question is OPEN. He said that it's been open all winter this year. So there you have it.

I've also camped here, where the trail along Little Badger ends at the road. Not the most beautiful campspots but plenty of room and easy trail access. It's on the way if you guys want to check it out:
