Anybody in the IAC community going?

I'm kind of on the fence right now, but I've made the trip three times before, so I have a streak going.

If I go, my plan is to leave Sacramento on Wednesday, camp overnight near Tehachapi, and roll into LHC on Thursday evening.

What are the biggest obstacles to making the trek? Really cold car camping along the way? Big long hills to climb in 3rd?
Or just the massive distance to travel?

Im throwing around the idea. Id have an additional 5-6 hours each way coming from up here, but it looks to be under 1,000 miles total and I usually put my max distance to travel each day at around 500 miles. Leave Wednesday morning and get to the camp by late Thursday night, then drive as far as possible starting Sunday afternoon and do the hard miles all on Monday.

4 days behind the wheel to be there for 2 days of camping is a little crazy, and expensive fuel wise, but what the hell.

In a VW bus, the journey is more than equal to the destination.

As great as it is to be out in my bus I kinda agree with the original thought that its too much driving for too little destination time. I like to try to keep at least a 2 to 1 ratio of destination to driving myself.

If it comes out right ... my first post

If you have the time, some people are camping at rally points in Death Valley (west) or Valley of Fire (east) approx. 1 week prior to BBTB. Many eventually rally at Craggy Wash (BLM land) just north of LHC off the main highway a day or two before the event. Plenty of camping, things to do before and after. That is ... if you have the time.
