I was going to say count me in the other day right before my computer went tits on me. Hard drive failures suck! Anyway count me in Bob. Do you have any specific area in mind? How 'bout you Mark? This should be a short drive for you wouldn't it?

Let me know when and where and I'll see what I can muster. ...St Patty weekend may work. The following weekend is spring break for us and the kids....already committed for "most" of that week.

What about March 28 (wed) to April 1 (sun). That will give the weather a chance to warm up a bit, and a chance for all of us with families to start the bribing (planning) process.

Doesn't have to be all the days. I think 3 days would be good tho.
Whattya think?

I'm thinking somewhere around the Deschutes (check my previous post with Terraserver URL), or around the confluence of Badger Creek and Little Badger Creek. Weather permitting!

It'll have to be a weekend thang for me if I go. All my vacation days are booked. I could probably get a Friday off or at least be off by 11:30. Depends on how busy we are by then.

Anywhere in that area sounds good to me. To stay out of the snow we'll have to be on the eastern side like in your link.

Friday

But...will they teach him to build a fire :geek: :geek: :geek: . Sorry...and yes, there were many of us involved in that little fuel-assisted travesty.

I'll see what I can do for that weekend....it's our spring break and I'll have family stuff for most of the week....I'ma hopin' I can bust out for a couple of nights.

Tis looking good at this point. Mentioned the plan to the wife and she said "oh yeah, ya gotta try to make that one"....god I love that woman! So...I visited with a good friend who worked with the Forest Service for many years up there.....he suggested either Bonny Crossing or Little Badger Creek. Both campgrounds...but this time of year we'd likely be alone. Fish are in both creeks....so...we could maybe even have a fish fry. He said there is a trail into the wilderness from Bonny. He said both access points are closed from the west...so looks like you'll need to come to Maupin and we can depart from here for a 45 minute drive to our weekend paradise. I may be totin' Zane...he may want to join us...hearty little camper he is...or, you may find yourselves stuck with just ME! I'm also up for bushwacking if you want....but there are advantages to picnic tables and fire pits in the middle of the forest with no one else around.

I know that area pretty well, was out there last March a little bit east of Bonny Crossing near the confluence of Badger and Little Badger creeks. Lots of good camping (free too) around the top canyon of B.C. and a good gravel road. Maybe you saw the pic with me holding chains?
I've got some pics at home I can post to give a feel of the area. Oaks and pines, with firs down in the canyon bottom. There were some snow spots in the shaded zones and I did get stuck for a bit...
Would we have hunting season to contend with? Saw many circling trucks last year lookin' for meat.

No "legal" hunting season I'm aware of. I'd love to explore this area a bit....I regret that I haven't spent more time up there....whatever you guys wanna do is fine with me.
