Here we go. I brought the AFM inside to get some detailed pics...

The tracks don't cut through. But what are those odd marks on the green pads? I don't remember seeing those on other AFMs...

Do the odd marks look heat-related?

They do, sort of, but they look way too perfect.

I know ratwell did some pics, but I can't find 'em.

Interesting... Yours seem to have the same marks, but much more sharply defined.

What's up with the dual sets of tracks on the one? Is that part of how they're rebuilt? Move the circuit board a bit to get fresh tracks?

I have carbs and I barely know what an AFM is, but I gotta say:

Nice shootin', Tex!

Here's the marks I'm talking about:

Notice the ones on Westy78's AFMs are sharp, distinct lines. Mine are brown smears.

Do a smell test to see if those blotchy marks are the result of heat. I do not think they will relate to any functional difficulties. Are they chemical in nature, like a robotic application of flux during board soldering operation?

The double tracks are going to be showing up frequently as IAC criss-crosses the country, it is an effective way to restore AFMs that act like they are running out of gas intermittantly. We have been dog-legging the contact arm to make it a little shorter, thus putting the "buttons" on a fresh area.

No scent of burning. And I agree that they probably don't hurt anything. I'm just curious.

The seal on the AFM was factory when I pulled it apart. Perfectly applied clear silicone. A bear to open up. heh

Back to the fuel system...
