Stock Type 4 Fuel Pump with dual Weber 44s?

Post by Sluggo » Fri Sep 29, 2006 4:43 pm

I got a stock fuel pump for my Bus (thanks Satchmo). I looked it up and it puts out 5 PSI. 400cc per minute (6.3402 GPH) at 3800RPM is the flow rate. I know my Weber 44s need between 2.5 & 3 PSI. I don't know what kind of flow rate they need. So here are my questions.

1. Is it okay to use a fuel pressure regulator with the stock mechanical pump?

2. Is this flow rate correct for my Webers?

1. Yes -fine

2. Yes - it is fine.

In practice, the stock pump will only exceed the needle valves' if you take your foot off the gas at high rpm. This shouldnt be such a problem, and many run webers and dellortos with the stock pump without a regulator.
