vapour recovery hoses

More simple questions from your friend to the north...
I am going to replace all the fuel lines and the vapour recovery hoses. I'm going to order the kit off German supply for the fuel lines, and was looking at the kit for the vapour recovery and noticed there are 7 pieces.

However, on Ratwell's site, he shows 8...

Am I missing something? Why only 7? Or should I just go to the auto parts store and buy a length of hose for this instead and cut it myself? I assume there's no real trick to cutting it. The fuel lines on the other hand seem easier to just buy the kit...

There are 8, not sure why Scott is only providing 7 in the kit.

But it's easy to buy a length of hose and cut your own.

Just the inside diameter. I used fuel hose. I figured if it can handle liquid gasoline, it can sure handle vapor. There's very little pressure involved. maybe just take the tee connector or a piece of the old hose in with you to the parts store. As long as it's a snug fit, it will be fine.

Can someone explain to me WHY parts of the vapour system have bits of tubing as opposed to just solid tubing like the rest of it? I don't really understand how the vapour recovery works...

And any idea how long of a tube I'll need? It looks pretty minimal.

Vibration. All solid lines would eventually break with vibration. Using hose in sections gives some flexibility to the set up.

Basically the gas tank needs to breath because gas expands and contracts with heat and cold. The "Vapor Recovery System" routes the fumes to the air intake which then sucks it into the intakes and makes use of it. Plus if it vents outside it destroys the O-Zone.
