Use for extra POR tank sealer?

Post by jackstar » Sun Mar 20, 2011 10:56 am

I finished PORing my Bus tank and had a bunch left over. I recanned it and as luck would have it, I ended up pulling my engine. Or was it vice versa?? Anyway, I have cleaned the fan shroud and wanted to know if anyone sees a problem with using the remainder of the silver POR tank sealer on the fan shroud prior to painting it? If its a dumb idea, tell me. If so, then I'll just primer it and paint it normally. Thanks.

I don't think you want to do that.

When I did my tank, I did buy a gallon of the "metal ready" and the "marine clean" which I do use for painting and degreasing stuff.

Figured I'd ask now rather than look for a new shroud later. Is the shroud alum. or magnesium?

Not me. I am sandblasting the magnesium and slapping on a couple of coats of engine clearcoat.
